The Trump administration is pressuring France and Germany to release emergency diesel reserves, warning that U.S. exports could be restricted if Europe does not help ease the global fuel crunch.

Reuters reports that Washington wants the EU to put about 120 million barrels of diesel onto the market over six months as Trump looks for ways to bring down fuel prices before the November midterms.
The threat comes as diesel supplies remain tight after disruptions in the Middle East and reduced exports from China, while U.S. inventories are also under pressure.
France has not confirmed any agreement to release stocks, and Germany has not publicly responded.
