Chinese officials sought extra rest time for Xi Jinping during Trump summit, cutting roughly five hours from the schedule

Eastora News·

The Wall Street Journal reported that Beijing requested a private West Wing room for Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, and canceled a planned working lunch with President Donald Trump.

The changes created a roughly five-hour gap in the summit schedule.

Xi had no events on the evening of his arrival and spent about 10 minutes at the National Archives on his final day.

People involved in planning the visit said the schedule was arranged around how long Xi could stand and walk before needing to rest.
