NYT: Trump personally directed officials to find taxpayer money for ads promoting his presidency, leading to a $20 million DHS contract

Eastora News·

The New York Times reported that Trump personally instructed his budget chief to identify federal funds for the advertising campaign.

The ads have aired nationwide on major networks and cable channels, with some using material from Trump’s 2024 campaign and others highlighting the Iran war.

About $5.5 million has been spent so far.

Lawmakers and critics from both parties have questioned whether the campaign violates federal restrictions on taxpayer-funded propaganda.

The White House says the ads are legitimate public service announcements promoting the country and are not intended to support Trump’s candidacy.
