Australian authorities are investigating the Australian connections of Hammam al-Hammami, the Omani co-pilot accused of attacking the captain of Flydubai Flight 1073 en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
Reuters reported that two sources briefed on the investigation said al-Hammami had previously studied at a university in Melbourne.
Local reports identified the institution as RMIT University, though RMIT declined to comment to Reuters.
Australia’s Joint Counter Terrorism Team in Victoria, which includes federal police, Victoria Police and ASIO, confirmed that it is investigating his links to Australia.
