Channel 12: Flydubai co-pilot planned to crash Flight 1073 into Ben Gurion Airport terminal
Israeli Channel 12 reported that Omani co-pilot Hammam al-Hammami told investigators he had planned to crash Flydubai Flight 1073 into a terminal at Ben Gurion Airport.
According to the report, he waited until the aircraft was over Jordan and approaching Israel before attacking the Indian captain.
The alleged plan was to continue a normal approach toward Ben Gurion and deliberately crash the aircraft into the terminal during the final stage of landing, when interception would be more difficult.
The plot was foiled after the wounded captain managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to intervene and regain control of the aircraft.
