Israeli government spokesman says Flydubai attack was intended to disrupt Israel’s election and undermine the Abraham Accords
Israeli government spokesman David Mencer said the attack aboard a Flydubai flight was intended to cause mass casualties, damage the Abraham Accords and interfere with Israel’s election campaign.
He said Israeli authorities believe those behind the attack wanted the deaths of around 160 Israelis and others on board to create a major political shock inside Israel before the election.
Mencer said Israel remained alert to attempts by hostile groups to interfere in its political process.
He also warned that once investigators establish who sent the attacker, “they will hear from Israel.”
Mencer described the incident as an attempt to spread death and destruction ahead of the election and linked it to what he called “jihadist thinking.”
