Eastora News·

Lance Corporal Devin Jacob Ballard, 20, was arrested in Okinawa on suspicion of robbing and killing 39-year-old Anna Yagi at a hotel in Naha.

Police said Ballard, who is stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, is suspected of taking Yagi’s wallet and backpack.

Ballard has denied the allegations and remains in Japanese custody.

U.S. officials said they are cooperating with Japanese authorities, while Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said Japan had lodged a strong protest with the United States.
