Israeli President Isaac Herzog says Israel seeks peace but argues the war was imposed on the country after October 7

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said Israel wants peace with its neighbors but argued that the war was imposed on the country by those responsible for the October 7 attack.

He said Israel went to war under what he described as its inherent right to self-defense and argued that the conflict had changed the course of the Middle East.

Herzog also said Israel’s actions are protecting “the West and the free world.”
