Netanyahu orders comprehensive review of security procedures for foreign civilian flights to Israel after Flydubai attack
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a full review of security arrangements covering foreign civilian flights to Israel following the attempted attack aboard Flydubai Flight 1073.
The review will examine “all aspects” of security related to incoming foreign airlines and will be overseen by an examiner appointed by National Security Council chief Shmuel Ben Ezra.
The decision follows the September 30 incident in which the Omani co-pilot of a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv allegedly attacked the captain and attempted to seize control of the aircraft.
Israeli authorities are also examining whether existing screening and oversight procedures for foreign airlines flying to Israel were sufficient.
