UK warns it could expel 27 Israeli diplomats if Israel closes British Consulate in East Jerusalem

Britain has warned Israel that it could expel 27 Israeli diplomats from the embassy in London if Israel proceeds with closing the British Consulate General in East Jerusalem, Ynet reported.
According to the report, British Ambassador Simon Walters conveyed the warning to Israeli officials, saying London could expel one Israeli diplomat for each of the 27 British diplomats affected by the closure.
Israel’s order to close the consulate is due to take effect on October 8.
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced the closure after Britain imposed sanctions and trade measures targeting Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
