Russian authorities quarantined around 200 people after a 28-year-old laboratory worker at an anti-plague research institute in Siberia died from pneumonia of unknown origin.
Officials said all known contacts had been traced and there was no evidence so far that her death was linked to her work with pathogens.
The United States is closely monitoring the situation, while Russian authorities say no additional plague cases have been detected.
