Rubio warns Ukraine war could escalate into a much broader regional conflict unless its battlefield stalemate is resolved

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the war in Ukraine as “extremely dangerous,” saying the conflict appears to have reached a stalemate.

Rubio said stalemates end in one of two ways: through a negotiated settlement or escalation. He warned that escalation could quickly transform a war between two countries into a much broader and more dangerous regional conflict.
