Trump’s approval falls to 30% in Pew poll, lowest of his second term as confidence in economy and foreign policy declines
President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 30%, the lowest of his second term, while 68% of Americans disapprove of his job performance, according to a new Pew Research Center survey. Confidence in Trump’s handling of the economy and foreign policy has dropped to 35% on each issue, while 41% express confidence in his immigration decisions.
The decline extends into Trump’s own 2024 electorate: 67% of his voters now approve of his performance, down from 95% early in his second term. Among Trump voters ages 19 to 34, approval has fallen to 49%.
The poll was conducted among 5,062 U.S. adults from September 28 to October 4, less than a month before the November 3 midterm elections. Trump’s 30% rating is close to the 29% Pew recorded in the final days of his first term in January 2021.
