Zelensky criticizes U.S. talks with Russia, urges Washington to “shut down” Moscow’s economy and expand Ukraine’s Starlink access

Eastora News·

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sharply criticized Washington’s approach to Russia, arguing that the U.S. cannot discuss future economic projects with Moscow while describing efforts to end the war as a diplomatic stalemate. He urged the U.S. to intensify economic pressure on Russia and give Ukraine expanded access to Starlink to help it gain greater control of its skies.

“Shut down their entire economy. Shut Russia’s mouth. Do not feed them with your sales,” Zelensky said. He pointed to U.S. actions during the war with Iran, saying Starlink capabilities had been made available and that Israel had “complete control of the skies over Iran,” arguing that Washington has the ability to provide Ukraine with greater support when it chooses to do so.

Zelensky was responding to Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s description of the war as a “strategic stalemate.” He argued that stronger U.S. pressure and greater support for Ukraine could force Vladimir Putin back to negotiations, saying the current impasse reflected a lack of willingness rather than an absence of available options.
