ASELSAN unveils GÖKALP counter-drone system, demonstrating how its radar-guided interceptor destroyed a target drone in midair

Eastora News·

Turkish defence company ASELSAN has unveiled its GÖKALP Counter-UAV System, demonstrating the system at its Oğulbey Technology Base by intercepting and destroying a target drone in midair.

During the test, the AURA radar detected the target and DRONEDEF command-and-control software sent real-time data to the GÖKALP E1 interceptor drone. The E1 struck the target directly using a hit-to-kill method, ASELSAN said.

The company says GÖKALP uses radar and electro-optical systems to detect threats and can autonomously intercept hostile drones. Its vehicle-integrated design is intended to provide a mobile, cost-effective counter-drone shield. ASELSAN said the demonstration showed the components operating together and the system’s interception capability under field conditions.

On October 5, ASELSAN signed agreements worth €2.46 billion ($2.75 billion) with Türkiye’s Secretariat of Defence Industries for the procurement of hybrid air defence systems. The agreements did not specify the systems, quantities or delivery schedule.
