Finland to send Ukraine ammunition for F-16s in coming days as Zelenskyy warns Russian fuel exports could finance the war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Finland would provide ammunition for Ukraine’s F-16s in the coming days, which he said is helping the aircraft shoot down jet-powered Shahed drones. In calls with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, October 10, he also discussed Russian attacks and continued support for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy told Stubb that additional Russian revenue from petroleum-product exports could fund further aggression. Stubb said on X that Finland had approved its 35th support package for Ukraine on Friday and that Finnish authorities were doing everything possible to protect civilians.
In his call with Macron, held during a Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, Zelenskyy raised the risks of easing restrictions on Russian oil products. He said Moscow must feel it no longer has the capacity to prolong the war, and called for stronger signals from the United States, Europe and other partners. He also said Ukraine needs additional air-defense packages, as the threat of further missile strikes remains high in the coming days.
The fuel-export concern follows an announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump that Russia would immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to U.S. and global markets. Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia was ready to supply oil and petroleum products to those markets.
