Putin conveys Iran’s view of a possible war settlement to Trump as a Russian diesel deal seeks to ease surging fuel prices

Eastora News·

Russian President Vladimir Putin passed Iran’s view of a possible resolution to the war to U.S. President Donald Trump, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to TASS. Peskov said the message was conveyed in coordination with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The talks followed two meetings between Putin and Pezeshkian on the sidelines of a summit in Turkmenistan, TASS reported. Trump said Friday that Russia would supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel immediately, 500,000 tonnes in November and another 1 million tonnes afterward, with further exports dependent on refinery conditions. The U.S. Treasury issued a license allowing imports of Russian diesel until April 7. Trump said the deal was intended to bring down fuel prices, which have risen during the war; analysts told the Associated Press that the additional supply may have only a limited effect on prices.
