State Department inspector general investigates Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle and U.S. Embassy in Greece after donor alleges $100,000 payment request

Eastora News·

The State Department inspector general is investigating U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle and the embassy she leads, following allegations by longtime Trump donor Eric Deters.

Deters accused Guilfoyle of asking for the money before her 2025 confirmation hearing, allegedly in exchange for access to senior Trump administration officials. He provided messages that appear to show her instructing him to wire $100,000 directly to American Express to pay her bill so it “won’t show up anywhere.” Deters said he never paid. A senior diplomatic official described the investigation as rare and said it had alarmed State Department officials.
