Türkiye sets Nov. 1 start for under-15 social media ban, with age checks and new safeguards for teenage users

Eastora News·

Türkiye’s new rules barring social media providers from serving children under 15 will take effect on Nov. 1. Published in the Official Gazette on Saturday, the regulations implement legislation passed by parliament in April and require platforms to verify users’ ages.

The rules also require platforms to offer parental controls and age-appropriate services for users aged 15 and older. Age checks must establish whether users meet the relevant age threshold while protecting their personal data. The measures are intended to address risks including screen addiction, sleep problems, cyberbullying and eating disorders.
