WikiLeaks editor-in-chief calls Israel ‘the most dangerous country in the world today’ and says Gaza journalists face deadly attacks
Kristinn Hrafnsson, editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks, said the state of journalism was bleak and that Gaza was its worst front, where journalists had been targeted, killed and assassinated while trying to report on what he called a genocide. He described those reporting from Gaza as brave people who were “literally” sacrificing their lives to get the truth out.
Hrafnsson accused Israel of committing “a most horrendous crime before our eyes” and “dictating the empire into wars,” calling it, in his view, “the most dangerous country in the world today.” He said attention should remain focused on that issue and that journalism was “undisputably” under attack. Quality journalists who uphold the spirit of journalism, he added, were being marginalized, pushed to the fringe or silenced, and that needed to be addressed.
