Rubio calls Riyadh airport attack “reprehensible” and demands it stop after 12 people, including a U.S. citizen, are killed

Eastora News·

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned Saturday’s attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh after Saudi authorities reported 12 deaths and 309 injuries. One of those killed was an American citizen.

Rubio called the attacks “reprehensible” and said they “must stop now.” The dead also included four Saudis, two Bangladeshis and one citizen each of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.

The strike was the third attack on Riyadh’s main airport this week, as fighting has intensified between the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces in Yemen. President Donald Trump has said Washington is weighing whether to join Saudi military operations against the Houthis.

Earlier attacks this week also hit King Khalid International Airport. Saudi authorities reported three deaths in an attack there on Thursday; Houthi rebels had claimed responsibility for that strike.
