Yandex shuts down data centre in Russia’s Vladimir region after drone strike, with some services unavailable and two other facilities hit in recent days
Russian technology company Yandex said a drone attack damaged infrastructure at its data centre in the Vladimir region, forcing the facility to shut down completely. Reuters reported the company’s statement on Sunday, October 11; Yandex said no one was injured and some of its services were unavailable to users.
The company did not provide further details about the damage or when the facility might resume operations.
The shutdown follows strikes on two other Yandex data centres in recent days. The company said its facility in the Kaluga region was partly put out of action on Friday, while an attack a day earlier shut down its data hub in Sasovo, where two of the three supercomputers used to develop its AI model are housed.
