Yemen’s cabinet approves draft law to designate Houthis a terrorist organization and criminalize their activities and financing, pending ratification

Eastora News·

Yemen’s cabinet approved a draft law to designate the Houthi group a terrorist organization and make its activities and financing criminal offenses. The decision was made at a Sunday meeting in Aden chaired by Prime Minister Shaya Zindani, according to the state news agency Saba.

The cabinet directed officials to complete the constitutional and legal procedures required for the draft’s ratification; it has not yet become law.

The approval came a day after an attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport killed 12 people and injured 309, according to Saudi civil aviation authorities. A Saudi-led coalition blamed the Houthis for the attack, the Associated Press reported, amid renewed fighting between the group and Yemeni government forces.
