Zelenskyy says Trump’s Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire announcement was “news for me,” but Kyiv will accept it if Moscow agrees
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Axios he had not known about the energy ceasefire President Donald Trump announced on Sunday, but said Ukraine would accept it if Russia agreed to the arrangement.
“Was news for me,” Zelenskyy said of Trump’s announcement. He added: “If President Trump negotiated it with Putin, please tell us when the ceasefire begins. We are ready, and we will accept it.” Trump had said the truce was effective immediately and that both countries had agreed to stop attacks on energy facilities.
Trump made a similar announcement last month, but neither Russia nor Ukraine confirmed an agreement, and attacks on energy infrastructure continued.
