Zheng Qinwen beats fourth seed Mirra Andreeva to win China Open, becoming the tournament’s first Chinese women’s singles champion

Chinese player Zheng Qinwen won the China Open women’s singles title in Beijing on Sunday, October 11, defeating fourth-seeded Mirra Andreeva in the final. The victory gave Zheng her first WTA 1000 title and made her the first Chinese player to win the tournament’s singles crown.
The China Open has been part of the WTA Tour since 2004. Before this year, no Chinese player had reached the women’s singles final; Zheng became the first when she beat Elise Mertens in the semifinals.
