Lebanon’s Salam vows firm action against illegal weapons after suspected Hezbollah-linked explosives shipment is seized, as army reports a separate 200kg haul

Eastora News·

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Monday, October 12, that authorities would pursue those behind an explosives shipment intercepted near Dahr al-Baidar and act firmly against weapons outside state control. He also called for the investigation to be widened to identify everyone involved and those behind them.

AFP reported that two men suspected of belonging to Hezbollah were detained on Thursday at a security checkpoint in Dahr al-Baidar, near a route linking Lebanon with Syria, while travelling toward Beirut. A judicial official told AFP that the vehicle carried about half a tonne of explosives: 250 kilograms of TNT and 250 kilograms of C4. The suspects’ suspected Hezbollah links have not been confirmed by an official public statement.
