NATO’s Grynkewich vows to “block, blunt and break” any Russian attack on alliance territory, saying forces would target the full warfighting system
NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Alexus Grynkewich warned Russia on Monday, October 12, that an attack on alliance territory would meet a response aimed at destroying everything involved in the assault. Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, he said NATO would “block, blunt and break” aggression to make an attack futile.
Grynkewich said the response would reach beyond the immediate front lines, targeting the adversary’s warfighting, support and command systems. His remarks came amid European governments’ accusations that Moscow has increased sabotage, drone incursions and cyberattacks.
Russia warned last month that it could use nuclear weapons if NATO tried to isolate its Kaliningrad exclave. The Russian warning followed rising tensions between Moscow and European countries.
