Oil prices edge lower as Trump’s announced Russia-Ukraine energy truce lifts supply hopes, though Kyiv says it has yet to receive details

Eastora News·

Oil prices slipped on Monday as traders anticipated increased Russian supplies after U.S. President Donald Trump announced an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, Reuters reported.

At 0627 GMT, Brent crude was down 11 cents to $104.61 a barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate had fallen 49 cents to $91.36. Both benchmarks had been down more than 1% earlier in the session. ICE gasoil futures dropped 3% to $1,436 per metric ton after Trump said Russia would immediately supply more than 300,000 metric tons of diesel to U.S. and global markets.

Trump said on Sunday that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt attacks on each other’s energy facilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv had learned of the arrangement through media reports and had not received its details; Ukraine also reported further Russian strikes on energy sites.
