“Russians are thinking about it”: Moscow weighs Trump’s refinery-focused energy ceasefire as the White House awaits a decision

Eastora News·

Russia is still considering President Donald Trump’s proposed energy ceasefire, a White House official told Axios, saying Washington expects to learn soon whether Moscow is ready to agree. The proposal would initially halt attacks on oil refineries.

“The Russians are thinking about it. We will know soon if they are ready,” the official said.

Trump announced on Sunday, October 11, that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an immediate energy ceasefire. But the White House official’s remarks indicate Moscow had not yet accepted the refinery-focused proposal; Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the announcement was news to him and that Ukraine would agree if Russia did.
