IndiGo cancels flights to four Saudi cities through Oct. 17 as airport attacks prompt fresh travel warnings from foreign governments
Indian carrier IndiGo has cancelled flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Medina through Oct. 17, citing the evolving security situation in Saudi Arabia. In a travel advisory posted on social media, the airline urged passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
Australia and New Zealand issued travel advisories on Monday, joining the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South Korea and Japan in warning their citizens about travel to Saudi Arabia. The advisories vary in scope, with some specifically addressing airport travel.
The warnings follow a series of attacks on Saudi airports attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement. The Associated Press reported attacks at Riyadh and Abha airports, with incidents at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport disrupting operations.
