Kim displays North Korean Hwasong-20 missile capable of reaching the United States as Trump says he may meet him during Asia trip
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited a newly opened defense museum displaying an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the United States, while U.S. President Donald Trump said he might meet Kim during an upcoming Asia trip. Reuters reported the developments, citing North Korean state media and images of the exhibition.
The museum displayed the Hwasong-20 ICBM among weapons developed under Kim’s leadership. A panel near its launcher appeared to depict a multiple-warhead design and potential ranges extending beyond the U.S. mainland; a South Korean defense analyst told Reuters that the map also showed areas including the Middle East, Australia and South America.
Trump is expected to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in China in mid-November. The timing or arrangements for any meeting with Kim have not been specified.
Trump and Kim met three times in 2018 and 2019, including at summits in Singapore and Hanoi and a meeting at the inter-Korean border.
