Putin and UAE president discuss Persian Gulf crisis and Russian diesel deal after Trump call, agreeing to maintain contact as bilateral ties mark 55 years

Eastora News·

Russian President Vladimir Putin and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the Persian Gulf crisis and Russian diesel supplies in a phone call, the Kremlin said Tuesday. The leaders also focused on developing bilateral cooperation as Russia and the UAE mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

They reviewed agreements reached after Putin’s phone conversation with US President Donald Trump concerning Russian diesel supplies and discussed prospects for resolving the crisis in the Persian Gulf. The two presidents agreed to maintain personal contact.

The call came amid tensions linked to the US-Iran conflict and concerns over maritime security and energy supplies. Trump had previously announced an agreement for Moscow to supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel to global markets, prompting the US Treasury Department to issue a temporary general license.
