Trump says U.S. still shares intelligence with Ukraine, weighs Türkiye role in Yemen response and comments on Russia, Israel
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the U.S. had not stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine. Asked whether Russia had broken the energy ceasefire, he said he would address that later, adding that Russia and Ukraine were “hitting each other.”
Asked about Russia striking six Ukrainian energy sites the previous day, Trump replied that Ukraine had struck many sites the day before. He said his confidence that Vladimir Putin wants the war to end was based on his experience “dealing,” adding: “That’s what I’ve done my whole life, is deals.” Trump said the war would ultimately “work out.”
Trump also said he might ask Türkiye to take part in a response involving Yemen, calling President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “a great friend of mine” and saying he had “a lot of respect” for him. He separately said Russia was releasing diesel to the global market rather than specifically to the U.S.
On Israel, Trump said his administration had not yet focused on the country’s elections but added, “I may be doing something.”
Trump also commented on U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, saying she “was not a member of my family” and had dated his son “a long time ago.” He said she had been doing a good job but that “we didn’t like what we were reading.” The White House asked Guilfoyle to resign Tuesday amid allegations of misconduct, which she denies.
