U.S. blamed bad weather for failure to warn Ukraine of Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, Politico reports
U.S. officials told Ukraine that bad weather was responsible for the failure to provide advance warning of Russia's latest ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, Politico reported, citing an official familiar with the matter.
According to the report, Kyiv does not consider the explanation sufficient and concerns are growing among Ukrainian officials over what caused the warning failure.
Ukraine normally receives alerts about impending Russian missile launches through the Battlespace Command and Control Center, a system involving the U.S. military and NATO members.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tuesday that Ukraine received no advance intelligence from its partners before Russia launched five ballistic missiles at Kyiv on October 12. Ukrainian officials said intelligence sharing with the United States is continuing.
