Vance says law should “follow the facts” in inquiry into Ilhan Omar, pledging to investigate allegations only if there is a real case
U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Tuesday that the administration would examine serious allegations against Rep. Ilhan Omar but would not pursue a case if investigators found no factual basis. “We try to let the law follow the facts, rather than creating facts just to prosecute people we don't like,” he told reporters at Joint Base Andrews.
Vance said officials would look into the allegations and “follow the facts” if there was a real case, adding that they would not proceed if there was not.
Federal agents searched Omar’s Washington home on Monday as part of a criminal investigation, according to the Justice Department, which provided few public details about the inquiry. Omar has previously denied immigration-related allegations raised by political critics.
