AP-NORC poll finds most Americans think Trump prioritizes personal business interests over helping people like them
A new AP-NORC poll found that most Americans believe U.S. President Donald Trump has prioritized his personal business interests more than the country as a whole or people like them during his second term.
Fifty-six percent of U.S. adults said Trump has prioritized his personal business interests "a lot," while 54% said the same about the business interests of his friends and family.
By comparison, 23% said Trump has prioritized the country as a whole "a lot," and just 11% said he has given the same level of priority to people like them. Half of Americans said he has not prioritized people like them at all.
The poll also found that 41% believe Trump has personally profited from the presidency in ways that are illegal, while 18% said his conduct has been unethical but not illegal. Another 18% said he has done nothing wrong.
The nationwide survey of 2,140 adults was conducted September 24-28 using NORC's probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
