FBI Director Kash Patel arrives in Russia for rare two-day visit, MS NOW reports
FBI Director Kash Patel has arrived in Russia for a meeting, MS NOW reported Wednesday, citing two sources.
The visit is expected to last two days and include stops in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Earlier reports said Patel was expected to be hosted by senior officials from Russia’s Federal Security Service, or FSB.
Reuters said it had not independently verified the latest report, and the FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The trip has drawn scrutiny in Washington. Senior House Democrats Jamie Raskin and Jim Himes urged Patel to cancel the visit, citing national security concerns and the FSB’s history of espionage operations against U.S. officials.
If confirmed, the trip would be the first visit to Russia by a sitting FBI director since Robert Mueller traveled there in 2013.
