FIFA President Gianni Infantino received an additional $1.76 million from a U.S. World Cup organizer in 2024, raising questions over compliance with official statutes
The Times reported that FIFA President Gianni Infantino received $1.76 million in additional compensation in 2024 from FWC2026 US Inc., a U.S.-based World Cup organizing company, and that FIFA did not publicly disclose the payment. Financial records show he also received a salary of 4.274 million Swiss francs, or $5.13 million, from FIFA in Switzerland.
Miguel Maduro, a former chairman of FIFA’s governance committee, called the failure to disclose the payments a clear violation of transparency rules and called for an independent investigation. He said FIFA’s statutes mandate full transparency.
FIFA rejected allegations of wrongdoing, saying it complied with all reporting requirements. The organization said Infantino’s contractual benefits were determined by its compensation subcommittee and reported to U.S. authorities.
