Attacks targeting ships near the Strait of Hormuz reached their highest daily pace since the war with the US began on Feb. 28, with six vessels targeted on Monday, according to the UK maritime agency and international security sources.
More than 18 vessels have been targeted in the first 12 days of October. At least 14 attacks, attempted attacks and interceptions were recorded between Oct. 5 and 12, while Tehran has cited a US naval blockade as the context for the actions.
