Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy announced that a container ship carrying more than 2,500 containers sank after striking a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel caught fire before sinking south of the strategic waterway and was reportedly using an unauthorized route at the time of the incident.
After the sinking, the Navy urged all vessels and fishermen to exercise extreme caution, warning that containers were floating on the water’s surface.
