Kamala Harris says U.S. failed to use leverage to curb Israeli government’s Gaza-war conduct, criticizing both current and her own administration
Kamala Harris said the United States failed to use its leverage to curb the Israeli government’s conduct in the war in Gaza, faulting both the current administration and the administration she served in before it.
She said it was in the U.S. interest to hold allies accountable for their share of global defense, ensure trade benefits American workers and consumers, and uphold obligations to human rights and international law.
Harris acknowledged that the United States had sometimes fallen short. She described the failure to curb the Israeli government’s conduct in Gaza as the most recent example, saying the current administration offers Netanyahu a “blank check” and that her own administration should have acted sooner and more forcefully.
