Kyiv mayor says two killed, 21 wounded in latest Russian ballistic missile strike, four seriously injured
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people were killed and 21 others wounded in Russia’s latest ballistic missile attack on the Ukrainian capital, raising the death toll from one reported earlier.
Klitschko said 16 of the wounded were hospitalized and four were in serious condition. An eight-year-old child was among those injured.
The strike hit a nine-story apartment building in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi district, where fires spread through several floors and residents were evacuated.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the main target of the attack was Thermal Power Plant No. 4 and criticized the lack of advance warning from Ukraine’s Western partners.
The attack was the second major Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv within 24 hours without advance warning from allied intelligence, according to Ukrainian officials.
