Trump administration invokes Defense Production Act to expand Delek refinery in Tyler, Texas

Eastora News·

The Trump administration will use the Defense Production Act to expand Delek US Holdings’ refinery in Tyler, Texas, Vice President JD Vance announced Tuesday.

The refinery currently processes about 74,000 barrels of crude oil per day into products including gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.

Vance said the expansion is intended to produce millions of additional gallons of commercial-grade and military-specification fuel, arguing that it would strengthen domestic energy supply and national defense.

The White House and Delek have not yet disclosed how much federal funding will support the project or how much additional refining capacity the expansion is expected to add. Refinery expansions can take months or years to complete.
