WSJ: Katie Zacharia’s first White House briefing leaves some Trump allies questioning her readiness
Katie Zacharia’s first briefing as White House press secretary left some Trump allies questioning whether she was ready for the high-profile role, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Zacharia read from a list of President Donald Trump’s accomplishments, spoke haltingly at times and took only three questions before directing reporters to the president. The briefing lasted less than 15 minutes.
During the appearance, she also mistakenly referred to her husband as “my president” before correcting herself. Zacharia used the briefing to announce that the White House had asked U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign.
The White House defended her debut, calling it a “commanding inaugural press briefing,” and Trump had said before her first appearance that Zacharia would do a “fantastic job.”
