Le Pen says France can no longer afford financial aid to Ukraine as debt pressures mount
Marine Le Pen said Wednesday that France could no longer afford to continue providing financial assistance to Ukraine, citing the country's worsening fiscal position.
"We can no longer finance Ukraine," Le Pen told reporters in Brussels, describing France's financial situation as "extremely precarious."
She said other European Union countries in stronger financial positions could take on a larger share of the burden.
Le Pen has made France's debt and deficit central issues ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Earlier this month, she warned that France risked a debt "snowball effect" and could face default if the wrong economic choices were made.
France's borrowing costs have risen amid concern over its public finances, while the National Rally has proposed large spending cuts and a gradual reduction in public debt.
