Turkey condemns Colombia’s decision to move its Tel Aviv embassy to Jerusalem, cites UN resolutions and calls for reversal
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry condemned Colombia’s decision to relocate its embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying it violates relevant UN resolutions and runs counter to legal principles emphasized in an advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice.
The ministry said East Jerusalem is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and called on Colombia to reverse its decision. It also said all states must refrain from actions that could undermine Jerusalem’s historical and legal status.
Turkey reiterated that an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital and territorial integrity based on the 1967 borders, remains the only way to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the region.
