Trump administration reopens investigation into Ilhan Omar after 2019 review found insufficient evidence, searches her home and seizes phone and passport
U.S.
The Trump administration has reopened an investigation into allegations involving Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, searching her home and seizing her phone and passport, The Washington Post reported.
The allegations include questions about Omar’s citizenship, birth date and her father’s background. A 2019 review by Trump administration immigration officials found insufficient evidence of wrongdoing, the report said.
Officials are also examining Omar’s finances and considering ways to challenge her citizenship status. Omar denies wrongdoing and describes the investigations as politically motivated.
