Italy investigates Israel’s Katz and senior officials over alleged abuses against Gaza flotilla activists during 2025 and 2026 interceptions

Eastora News·

Italian prosecutors said Friday that Israeli War Minister Israel Katz and senior army, police and prison officials are under investigation over the treatment of Gaza flotilla activists.

The investigation initially focused on Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir before being expanded to include additional senior Israeli officials. According to a statement from the Rome prosecutors’ office, the case concerns suspected torture, kidnapping, personal injury, robbery and property damage during Israeli interceptions of small flotillas heading toward Gaza in 2025 and 2026.

The probe followed complaints by 50 Italian citizens who were detained by Israeli authorities after two Global Sumud Flotilla missions: one between September and October 2025, and another between April and May 2026.
