U.S. President Donald Trump says America is taking “hundreds of billions of dollars” from Venezuela at Kentucky campaign rally
U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking Saturday at a midterm campaign rally at Truist Arena in Highland Heights, Kentucky, said the United States is taking “hundreds of billions of dollars” out of Venezuela.
“You know how much money we’re taking out of Venezuela? Hundreds of billions of dollars we’re taking out of Venezuela,” Trump said. Independent estimates published earlier this year put Venezuelan oil revenue since the U.S. intervention far below that figure.
Trump also criticized Canada’s trade relationship with the United States. He called former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a “loser” and said current Prime Minister Mark Carney was “a nice guy” personally but not when it comes to trade.
Trump said he did not want the United States to lose $90 billion “for the privilege” of allowing Canada to maintain its healthcare system and other programs. He has repeatedly described the U.S.-Canada trade imbalance as an American loss, although official trade data do not equate a trade deficit with direct U.S. spending on Canada.
On Iran, Trump said: “We beat the shit out of them,” referring to U.S. military operations against Iran.
Trump also said Google would not have taken his call during his first term but now “kiss my ass,” presenting the change as an example of how major companies deal with him differently during his current presidency.
He rejected criticism that his administration had weaponized the federal government, saying authorities under the previous administration had targeted people for buying “MAGA” hats and adding: “I am a baby by comparison.”
