Iranian parliament approves Mehrdad Akhlaghi Ketabchi as defense minister; veteran official helped develop the country’s missile industry

Iran’s parliament has approved Mehrdad Akhlaghi Ketabchi as the country’s new defense minister. Ketabchi is a veteran Defense Ministry official who helped build and develop Iran’s missile industry.

He previously headed the Shahid Bagheri Industrial Group and later the Aerospace Industries Organization.
